The work we do
What a turf job includes
Replacing a tired lawn or finishing bare ground? We clear the area, prepare the soil and levels, then supply and lay the turf. The ground underneath matters just as much as the grass you choose.

Removing the old lawn
Old grass, weeds and rubbish cleared from the area.
Levelling and preparation
The ground graded so water runs away from the house, with fresh soil spread and levelled.
Laying
Turf laid tight with staggered joints and cut neatly to edges and paths.
Watering in
The new lawn watered in, with instructions for the weeks after.
An example of our work
From bare ground to a new lawn
Fresh turf transformed the ground beside this pool. These original photographs show the area before laying and the lawn afterwards, as part of a wider garden project.

The right grass for your garden
Most of the lawns we lay are DNA-certified Sir Walter Buffalo. We also lay the other main turf types grown for Sydney, including couch, kikuyu and zoysia. You don’t need to choose before getting in touch.
Help your new lawn settle in
We water the turf in and leave you with care instructions for your lawn and the time of year.

Prepare for your new lawn
A lasting lawn needs suitable turf and prepared ground. David checks the area before quoting removal of any existing grass, preparation, supply and laying.
Free on-site quotes in Lindfield, with David from our Ryde-based family business.
Sun, use and preparation
Tell us where shade falls, how the lawn is used and whether the ground is bare or already grassed. Levels and drainage are assessed before the turf variety and preparation are agreed.
Plan the first weeks of care
Make sure someone can water the lawn after laying. Follow the care instructions for the variety and season, and adjust watering for weather and current water restrictions.
Planning your budget
What does turf laying cost?
Turf supply and laying is priced separately from ground preparation. The complete-lawn example below is a guide to the overall job, not an extra charge. David checks the area, levels and access before giving you a free on-site quote.

|---|---|
| Ground preparation, where needed | $10 to $20 a m² |

Another tree service mucked me around all morning with quote appointment changes, so I contacted Festus from Absolute Tree and he quoted over the phone his team turned up and both tree stumps were gone before sunset on the same day at a most reasonable cost. Thanks again.

I was a bit apprehensive about hiring a landscaper after hearing a few horror stories, especially picking someone I’d found online—but I’m so glad I went with Absolute Tree and Garden. David was extremely responsive and even shuffled his schedule to squeeze my job in earlier than expected. The team that came out were friendly, efficient, and thorough—exactly what you’d hope for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Absolute Tree and Garden to anyone.

David and the whole crew at Absolute Tree and Garden Services are fantastic. The work is always done very professionally and safely. The crew are very friendly and respectful. I have used them for many years across multiple properties and the service is always the same - consistently good. I like that they will push back if the request is not going to give you the best result which is great. They turn up on time!! Their rates are very reasonable as well. I fully recommend Absolute Tree and Garden Services! Stuart

I could not rate David and his team more highly. They did a first rate job in both my backyard and front yard. Both look fantastic and I could not be happier. David is a genuinely nice guy and very easy to relate and talk to. David’s price was very reasonable for all the work he did and I will definitely be using his services again soon. Highly recommended.

Questions about turf laying
Can you remove the old lawn and weeds first?
Yes. Clearing the old grass and weeds is part of preparing a lawn for new turf. We include the preparation needed for your site in the quote, with green waste from the work taken away.
Does the price include soil and levelling?
The turf supply-and-laying rate is separate from ground preparation. David checks the existing soil, levels and access on site, then quotes for the work your lawn needs so you can see the overall price before deciding.
How soon can children or pets use the new lawn?
Keep traffic light until the turf has rooted firmly into the soil. The timing depends on the variety, season and growing conditions. We’ll explain what to look for before normal use and the first mow, rather than give the same date for every lawn.
Do I need to measure the lawn or choose a turf variety first?
No. An approximate size and photos help us understand the job, but we check the area when we visit. We can recommend a turf variety after looking at the sunlight, soil and how you use the garden.
Can the turf be laid with new garden beds or planting?
Yes. Turf can be part of a larger garden job with planting, garden beds, mulch, edging or a path. Tell us what you would like changed so it can be considered together.
Explore landscapingDo you offer regular mowing after the lawn is laid?
We supply and lay the lawn and explain its early care. We don’t run regular lawn-mowing rounds. If the garden later needs a substantial clean-up or restoration, get in touch about that work.
