The work we do
More room. A considered cut.
Start with what needs to change: branches over the roof, low limbs across a path or a canopy blocking the light. David looks at the tree and access with you, then agrees on the work. The aim is a useful improvement while retaining the tree’s natural shape.

Lift low branches
Crown lifting creates clearance above paths, driveways and the garden by removing selected lower branches.
Ease a crowded canopy
Selective thinning can let more light through where appropriate. Not every dense canopy needs to be thinned.
Remove deadwood
Remove dead or dying branches from the canopy as part of the agreed pruning.
Clear the house
Cut back suitable branches from roofs, gutters and walls, with the extent guided by the tree and the space available.
Shape screening trees
Discuss height and spread for lilly pillies, conifers and other screening plants. Suitable limits depend on the species and condition.
Take away the clippings
Branches and green waste from the agreed work are removed. Ask about keeping chipped mulch when we quote.
Before any branches are cut
Choose the right approach for the tree
Pruning can need council approval even when the tree is staying. The rules depend on the tree, how much is being removed and any protections on the property. Heritage and other site restrictions can change what is allowed.
Pruning or removal?
Pruning can manage selected branches and clearance. A tree that is unsuitable for the space or has a serious condition concern may need a different assessment. Talk through the options with David before deciding.
Tree removal in TempeIf a written assessment is needed
David can discuss a referral to a separate consulting arborist. The consultant assesses the tree and agrees the report fee directly with you. A report does not guarantee council approval.

Describe the result you need
Point out the branches affecting clearance or the growth you are concerned about. We assess selective pruning against the tree’s condition; severe cutting is not a substitute for a suitable pruning plan.
Choose the extent before starting
Photographs of the whole tree and the affected area help the discussion. David confirms access, the agreed pruning and removal of clippings before the work begins.
Council requirements for your tree
Check the requirements for your property and the proposed work before pruning or removal. A quote or arborist report is not permission to start.

Another tree service mucked me around all morning with quote appointment changes, so I contacted Festus from Absolute Tree and he quoted over the phone his team turned up and both tree stumps were gone before sunset on the same day at a most reasonable cost. Thanks again.

I was a bit apprehensive about hiring a landscaper after hearing a few horror stories, especially picking someone I’d found online—but I’m so glad I went with Absolute Tree and Garden. David was extremely responsive and even shuffled his schedule to squeeze my job in earlier than expected. The team that came out were friendly, efficient, and thorough—exactly what you’d hope for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Absolute Tree and Garden to anyone.

Questions about tree pruning
How much can you cut back?
That depends on the species, age, condition and purpose of the pruning, as well as council requirements. Heavy cutting can stress a mature tree. We discuss a suitable extent on site; a fixed height reduction or percentage cannot be promised from a photo. Topping a tree is not the same as selective pruning.
Do I need council approval to prune?
Possibly. A council may allow limited pruning under specific conditions, but exemptions differ and heritage or other protections may apply. Check the rules for your property before work starts, including when the branches appear dead.
Find your council’s tree guidanceWhen is the best time to prune?
There is no best month for every tree. Species, flowering, condition and the reason for cutting all matter. Tell David what you want to achieve so the work and timing can be considered together. A mature tree does not automatically need pruning every year.
Could the tree need removal instead?
Pruning may address clearance, deadwood or some canopy concerns, but it cannot solve every structural or health problem. If the tree’s condition is uncertain, a formal arborist assessment can help with the decision. Any removal is quoted as separate work and remains subject to the relevant approval.
Explore tree removalWhat about branches near power lines or over the boundary?
Mention these when you enquire. Power lines may need specialist arrangements before any work, and branches over a boundary can involve council rules and property access or permission. Do not cut branches near power lines yourself. We discuss the site and the arrangements needed before quoting.
Can you shape hedges and screening plants too?
Yes. Screening trees can be assessed with the tree work; the amount they can be cut back depends on the plant. If shrubs, hedges and the wider garden need attention together, a garden restoration may be a better fit. We book this work as needed, rather than regular maintenance rounds.
Explore garden restorationsIs green-waste removal included?
The branches and green waste from the agreed pruning are taken away. We confirm the clean-up in the quote. If you would like to keep chipped mulch, mention it when David visits.
